How to redeem an Ernsting's family gift card and keep the balance

For a DHL order, enter an Ernsting’s family gift card in the final “Review & order” step under “Redeem voucher / discount code”. The current flow uses a 12-digit code without a separate PIN. For a store purchase or an order collected and paid for in a store, present the voucher at the till.
How to redeem an Ernsting’s family gift card online
- Open ernstings-family.de or the app.
- Add the eligible items to your basket.
- Select DHL delivery if you want to pay directly online.
- Continue to the final “Review & order” step.
- Open “Redeem voucher / discount code”.
- Enter and confirm the 12-digit voucher code.
- Check the deduction before placing the order.

One voucher online, several at a store
The number of cards you can use depends on the delivery and payment route:

You therefore cannot add two €10 codes to make €20 for a DHL order. If you plan a larger online purchase, one €50 code is more flexible.
Which products and costs does the voucher cover?
The official FAQ allows a gift voucher to pay for all articles in the range except another gift voucher. The terms add that a gift voucher also contributes to delivery costs incurred on an online order.
A promotional discount code is different: its own campaign rules determine eligible products, combinations, minimum order value and timing. Discount codes do not cover delivery costs. Although both code types share a checkout field, their rules are not interchangeable.
What happens to unused credit?
If the purchase costs less than the card value, the difference remains on the original gift voucher. Keep the code and use it for another eligible purchase.
The voucher cannot be applied retrospectively to an online order that has already been paid. Before placing the order, confirm that checkout accepted the code and deducted the correct amount.
Check the validity of the specific code
The current Ernsting’s family FAQ does not give one number of years for every gift voucher. Instead, it tells customers to observe the validity period supplied with the particular voucher. Check the information delivered with your code.
A general five-year claim published by a reseller is not a substitute for the date or period on your card. This is particularly important for older codes and vouchers bought through external sales channels.
Returns after paying with a gift voucher
Items can still be returned after full or partial voucher payment. For a return made at an Ernsting’s family store, the official FAQ describes cash reimbursement or a reversal to an EC or credit card used for the remaining payment. It says that this in-store flow does not reload the original gift voucher.
For a DHL return or another special case, ask customer service to confirm the refund route for the particular order. Keep the receipt, voucher and return confirmation until the refund is complete.
Voucher locked after an interrupted order
A code may temporarily fail when:
- its credit has already been used,
- it is active in another checkout,
- an online order using the code was cancelled,
- the connection failed while the payment was being processed.
After an interruption, Ernsting’s family says the voucher can remain locked for a few minutes for security reasons. Wait briefly and try again. If the problem continues, record the error message and contact Ernsting’s family customer service or Payticon.
Transferable, but not replaceable after loss
You may give the voucher to friends, family or colleagues. Share only the card details needed for redemption.
Treat the code like cash: according to Ernsting’s family, a lost or stolen voucher cannot be blocked or replaced. Never publish the full 12-digit code in chats, forums or screenshots.
